This will be a Festé first for Déda marketing manager Becky

Becky Oldham, marketing manager at Déda, sat down to talk us about what she is looking forward to at her first Derby Festé.

“As an aspiring aerial performer I cannot wait for this year’s circus themed Festé festival! In particular the fun-fuelled circus show ‘Now or Never’ by the amazing Circa Tsuica. I will be watching in frenzied anticipation as they soar, swing and flip themselves across the air! I am a bit of an adrenaline junkie so I am excited to witness such spectacular jaw-dropping stunts performed outdoors in a beautiful big top tent.  This will be my first year at the festival and I am eager to join in and experience the exceptional variety of acts that will be on display.  I am excited to hear that there will also be an impressive parade through the city centre lead by a cluster of giant luminous white horses (FierS á Cheval performed by Compagnie des Quidams) that will be carefully choreographed through the streets.  Both bizarre and beautiful this herd of dream-like creations looks like a spectacle not to be missed!

“It is fantastic to have a festival like Derby Festé situated in Derby city centre. I usually have to travel to large cities like London to see street shows and outstanding outdoor performances.  It is great to have something so creative sitting right on your door step! As well as being a fantastic day out for all the family it offers something completely different to all other entertainment elsewhere in the area.  I am thrilled that there is an event that still celebrates outdoor performance, live music and dance right here in the Midlands.

“Déda are really proud to be supporting Derby Festé again this year. Déda is a creative centre for Dance, Contemporary Circus and Outdoor work – connecting locally, nationally and internationally. Therefore having the opportunity to collaborate on a festival that attracts artists from all over the world is incredible and something as an organisation we really value. Derby Festé is vital to a town like Derby as it encourages a sense of both community and culture.  It also attracts all sorts of audiences to the city and provides opportunities to engage with local companies and organisations.

“The atmosphere and buzz of the festival is what makes Derby Festé so unique and special. Come rain or shine, there will still be a memorizing amount of acts, music and attractions to choose from. It is a total adventure; you never know what act or performance you might stumble upon or what you might discover round each corner.  It all adds to the fun and authentic festival experience! There is something to be said about spending time outside with your loved ones and I am looking forward to treating them to such a dazzling day out. I am looking forward to my first Festé festival and I hope to see you there!”
