Games Time is a fantastic stage show made in Derby by Deda Producing. With a backdrop of giant video projections, fireworks and music this is a headline act not to be missed.

Come and enjoy this spectacular large-scale event created by people from Derby working with leading UK artists. Over 100 people of all ages and backgrounds have dedicated their spare time to bring you a breath-taking show of brilliant costume, dance, film, music and fireworks in Darley Park. Games Time is funded by Legacy Trust UK and produced by Deda Producing.

Big Scribble: QUAD

Draw and scribble your Festé magic moments on our Big Scribble canvases surrounding the QUAD Café Bar. Drawing materials will be provided for scribblers of any age.

Artcore: Glory of the Games at Déda

Location: Déda

Glory of the Games invites participants to create scrap books, posters and collaborative large panels on the theme of sports and games. Participants will use various art materials, also visuals related to sports and games through the collection of newspaper clippings, magazines, relating to popular games and sports. The completed collaborative piece of artwork will be displayed at a public place, possibly a sports venue in Derby; for all to enjoy, be proud of and earn Glory.

Splash Stage

Location: Market Place

Listen, watch and enjoy some of Derby and Derbyshire’s hottest new live performances. Festé presents a rolling programme showcasing the diversity of the county’s performing artists. The line-up includes dancers, poets, puppets and musicians of all styles in a continuous flow of entertainment whether you are dropping in for a quick visit, or settled down for the entire afternoon, there will be plenty to keep you entertained.  Keep an eye out for information boards on the day for the final line up and running order.

Yarn Bombing

Location: Cathedral Green

Derby Makers (based at the Silk Mill Museum) along with the help of other local knitters have Yarn Bombed the area around Cathedral Green. Look out for colourful displays of knitted, crocheted yarn that have been inspired by using the bright colours from Games Time. Look around the Cathedral Green area to find knitted dice, balls, games boards and snakes and ladders.

ArtReach: Nanoplex

Location: Market Place

The ArtReach Nanoplex is a state of the art moving image gallery housed within a converted family caravan. Shunned from the Caravan Club and rejected by the average campsite owner, the Nanoplex has discovered its true calling – to tour festivals and events across the UK, showcasing the best and most original short films by artists from across the world. A special programme of moving image works by artists from the Platforma Arts and Refugee Network will be screened – an initiative designed to support and mainstream the work of refugee artists in the UK. www.platforma.org.uk

Independent Theatre Network: Theatre on the Run!

Join five of Derby’s most exciting and vibrant theatre companies for this eccentrically entertaining stroll through the city’s St Peter and Cathedral Quarters; who knows who you'll bump into?! From local heroes to not-so-local Alien Tourists, Hollywood stars and New York Divas to Will Shakespeare himself, this is set to be the most unique walk you will have ever taken through Derby city centre. Take a whole bag full of classic comedy routines, shake them up and update them for the hip-hop age and you have the exhilarating and hilarious Flhip Flhop. Life can be really boring, especially when you’re a decorator with time on your hands and beats in your head. But when your mate’s into the same sounds as you are, work gets a bit funkier. This crazy pair of painters escape the monotony of their dull jobs by taking refuge in hip-hop, MC-ing and beatbox, mixing it up but usually ending up just mixed up!

Big Rory & Co: Giant Seagulls

These cheeky sea birds have had bookers in a flap all over the world. Giant cheeky gulls with working beaks, they’ll rummage in bags and pockets, steal food, squabble amongst themselves and generally cause a fuss.

All will be revealed when you and a lucky friend find the Flycycle and you get the ride of your life!  Beautifully crafted, expertly piloted and sensationally silly The Flight Of Fancy Simulators await you… (All ages welcome, journeys last 5 minutes, right of admission reserved, dress to impress). Commissioned by The Sheffield Children’s Festival.

The Delegates: Circuit Training

Look out for The Delegates firm believers in ‘Yesterday’s Games Tomorrow’ who will be scouring the streets of Derby in search of talented new athletes. Officially, the grey-suited Delegates represent Ph.A.R.S.E. (Physical Alternative Recreational Sporting Enterprises Selection Committee). Ph.A.R.S.E. are seeking participants to represent Team Derby at the Brazilian Olympics in 2016. The Delegates have their own take on Olympic sporting events and present a series of highly competitive sports that includes Paper Scissors Stone, Digital Hula-Hooping, Pavement Darts, Anxious Irish Dancing and Tiddly-winks. This is your opportunity to test your skill and sporting prowess against The Delegates.

A Flight of Fancy Simulator, beautifully crafted and expertly piloted. Find the Jetty and Captain Calypso and the ever-ready Pearl will take care of the rest preparing you and sending you on a watery journey in our cycle powered bathysphere to the depths of your imagination! Journeys last about 5 minutes, all ages welcome, 2 at a time, toes may get wet, sharks may get tickled, imaginations will be inflated. Commissioned by The Sheffield Children’s Festival.

The What If? Machine

‘What if’ you could come and see Derby’s first ever giant chain reaction Machine at the site of the World’s first factory? Using our museum collections, the theme ‘games’ and our continuing reputation as a city of invention, creativity and engineering – our partners and collaborators will build something quite extraordinary. You will be able to create your own mini-versions and watch as the large scale machines are built and tinkered with. Then…watch as we trigger the machine to achieve the ultimate in perpetual motion spectacle… we hope!

Reclaiming the street music of New Orleans from the old men in bowler hats and waistcoats The Rampage Brass Band enthral audiences young and old with their energetic and youthful zest re-interpretations of classic street band music from New Orleans. Led by the effervescent Jeff Brown, this wild bunch of Derby based musicians will enjoy themselves as much as you will!  Rampage Brass Band is the latest collaboration between The Music Hot House and Derby Jazz.

Enjoy this life sized, alternative version of the much loved Victorian seaside entertainment Punch and Judy as they return as a vehicle for hilarious satire in our anxious, credit crunched world. With puppets, music and knockabout choreography the infamous rebels take to the streets and ask the public for their support. Who will win the war on freedom of expression and civil rights? Will the Polite Policeman have his way? It's fun for all the family.  The show is produced by Time Won't Wait and funded by Arts Council England.

Turbo Jonez and the Temple of Boom is a sequel to the first, very successful solo show from Reckless Invention. This show starts with Turbo searching for the ultimate phat beat. The audience is taken on a musical journey through of the most dangerous and heinous tracks of the 90s, 80s, 70s, 60s, all the way back to Mozart. It’s an endorphin rich soundtrack that assaults, transforms and transports the audience through their memories of tunes that rock.

Be prepared for lots of laughter and audience participation when an exasperated film Director sets out  to shoot a scene from his latest ‘Silent Movie' with an incompetent crew and impromptu cast made up of "extras". Will 'world famous' international film director, Hyram Hiccinbottom succeed and film his masterpiece of the silent movie genre or will it all come tumbling down as Hollywood meets 'Ollinwood.

Probably the first ever Victorian robot. Albot was created in response to the Dickens bicentennial and inspired by HG Wells and Jules Verne. He is a genuine robot with no human parts and stands at over two-metres tall. He is animated by state of the art digital remote controls and the unique transformer-like frame enables him to change shape and stretch up to well over three-metres.

Yodel is an absurd comedy where Wolfegang Glochenspiel from leather-Hosen-Land performs his world famous classical music on bicycle horns while riding on a 2 meters high unicycle.
